About
Built on family values, quality workmanship, and honest communication.
The team at New Digs is committed to delivering straightforward advice, quality workmanship, and a positive client experience
New Digs Building Ltd was established in early 2021 by Digby and Susan as a small family run business built around practical building experience, honest communication, and quality workmanship. Since day one, our focus has been on delivering reliable service, quality results, and fair, transparent pricing.
As a young growing family ourselves, we understand the importance of a home that works for your lifestyle now while also adapting to your future needs. Whether it’s renovations, new builds, or building reports, we focus on practical advice, good communication, and doing things properly from start to finish.
Our New Digs Reports division grew naturally through requests from friends, family, and past clients who wanted practical, builder led advice before purchasing homes. What started as helping people buy with their eyes open has now grown into an important part of the business, providing clear, straightforward reports throughout Wellington.
We’re incredibly proud of the team we’ve built around us over the years. From apprentices through to qualified builders and trusted subcontractors, we’ve worked hard to create a positive, supportive culture built on respect, communication, and pride in our work.
From starting with a single staff member, New Digs has grown into a team of 9, while still maintaining the hands-on, family-run values the company was built on.

Pre renovation assessment
To help avoid unwanted surprises during construction, we can also provide a comprehensive pre renovation assessment of your home before work begins.
This can include floor level checks using laser levels, pile and subfloor observations, and targeted moisture testing to identify potential issues such as hidden moisture or early signs of timber decay.
By understanding the condition of the home upfront, we can plan more accurately and reduce the likelihood of uncovering unexpected problems once renovations are underway.
Our team & subcontractors
We work alongside a trusted network of qualified trades and subcontractors, ensuring every aspect of your project is handled by experienced professionals who meet our high standards.

Digby/Digs
Director
The man behind the New Digs name and the one who keeps things moving. Digby has over 15 years of building experience and started out working as a paver before picking up the tools and moving into the building industry full time.
What began as a one man band quickly grew through word of mouth, repeat clients, and a reputation for quality workmanship and honest communication. From managing projects and problem solving on site to working closely with clients throughout the process, Digby brings a practical, hands on approach to every job.

Harry
Foreman
Harry is known for his eye for detail, high standards, and commitment to getting things right the first time. With a strong focus on quality finishes, organisation, and leading the team on site, Harry plays a key role in delivering projects to the standard New Digs is known for.
When he’s not on site or renovating his own home, you’ll usually find him out on the golf course.

Susan
Admin & Accounts
Susan keeps things running smoothly behind the scenes, managing accounts, scheduling, client communication, and the day to day organisation that keeps New Digs ticking over.
Before joining New Digs full time after the birth of our daughter, Susan spent 12 years working in hospitality, bringing strong people skills, organisation, and a calm approach to even the busiest days. Now with two toddlers in tow, she somehow still manages to keep both the business and family life running smoothly.

Ben
Ben started his journey with New Digs fresh out of school as a Gateway student. With great initiative, a strong work ethic, and a genuine passion for the building industry, it quickly became clear he was a great fit for the team, leading to a full time position and apprenticeship.
Over the years, Ben has grown into a highly valued member of the crew, known for his reliability, positive attitude, and willingness to take on any challenge thrown his way.

Sam
Sam is known for his strong work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to take on any challenge. His commitment to learning and growing within the industry has seen him quickly become a trusted member of the team, taking ownership of projects and playing an important role on site.
When he’s not on the tools, you’ll likely find him training for his next marathon or on the rugby field. His determination and drive carry through to every project he works on.

Jacob
Jacob is a valued member of the New Digs team and a keen rugby player. Since joining the crew in April 2024, he has become known for his strong initiative, positive attitude and willingness to get stuck in.
With plenty of drive and determination, Jacob is already running his own jobs on site and taking responsibility for delivering quality outcomes while continuing to develop his skills within the industry.

Riley
Riley is a hardworking member of the New Digs team who brings a great attitude and plenty of enthusiasm to site each day. Always keen to learn and get stuck in, he’s known for being reliable, eager, and willing to tackle whatever the job throws at him.
Outside of work, Riley is a keen 4WD enthusiast and takes plenty of pride in his Ranger, which is rarely seen clean for long.

Edwyn
Edwyn is currently in his first year apprenticeship and brings a very practical, hands on mindset to the team. Before getting into building, he was close to becoming a mechanic, but after doing work experience on site he decided the building industry was the right fit for him.
Always keen to learn and improve his skills, Edwyn has a strong work ethic and enjoys getting stuck into all aspects of the job. When he’s not at work, you’ll usually find him rebuilding motorbikes.

Hunter
Hunter is our youngest and newest employee, although definitely not the smallest. He first joined New Digs as a Gateway student after spending school holidays working part time as a roofer, before deciding he enjoyed the diversity and hands on nature of building work even more.
With a great attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn, Hunter has fit into the team really well and we’re stoked to have him on board.
