Accessible Bathroom Renovation

Location

Oriental Bay

Scope of work

Designed and renovated to balance accessibility, functionality, and aesthetic appeal

This bathroom has been thoughtfully designed to balance accessibility, functionality, and aesthetic appeal, creating a space that is both practical and visually inviting.

Careful consideration has been given to accessibility, with clear visual cues, contrast, and layout to support ease of use. Subtle pops of colour assist with wayfinding, while a calming green feature wall softens the space and avoids a clinical feel.

The design incorporates anti-slip floor tiles for safety, along with a layout that allows for comfortable movement and future adaptability. Natural materials, including custom rimu cabinetry, provide warmth and ample storage while maintaining a high-end finish.

Lighting, texture, and contrast have been used throughout to support low vision, ensuring the space is both functional and comfortable to use.

This project was delivered through a strong team effort, led by KinleyPlus, alongside a trusted group of contractors we regularly work with, including Jim Mitchell from Playhouse Architects and Alistair from Lower North Electrical.

The result is a bathroom that is clean, considered, and future-proofed, without compromising on style.
