This renovation of a classic 1920’s villa in Hataitai focuses on bringing the home into modern living while enhancing its original character.

A new layout reconfiguration sees the kitchen moved into the heart of the home, swapping positions with an existing bedroom to create a functional, open-plan living space. Structural beam work has been introduced to open up the area, along with a flared solar Velux skylight to bring in natural light.

Original timber flooring has been revealed by removing existing carpet and sanding the floors, adding warmth and character back into the home.

The project also includes double glazing throughout, a new designer kitchen, and a modern ensuite.

A key feature is the addition of a self-contained, lockable Airbnb option, complete with a new side entrance and deck, allowing flexible use of the space.
